Syria says to import 200,000 tns of Russian wheat by October

BEIRUT, Jul 15 (PRIME) -- A Middle Eastern company has won a tender to supply 200,000 tonnes of Russian wheat to Syria from July to September, Yousef Kasem, director of the grain department in the ministry of supply, told PRIME on Wednesday.

"The agreement was not signed with a Russian company, with a Middle Eastern company for 200,000 tonnes of Russian wheat. The supplies must be carried out in the seventh, eighth and ninth months," Kasem said.

He said that Syria can sign additional agreements with Russian companies outside a tender but bids of all participants are considered at tenders.
